Thirteenth Beach Golf Links

Thirteenth Beach Golf Links is a Nationally Ranked 36 hole golf and residential precinct located in Barwon Heads. In 2013, 2014 and 2015 Thirteenth Beach Golf Links hosted the Oates Vic Open, a unique event encompassing both Men and Women professional golfers with crowds of over 20,000 in attendance. The event will be staged at Thirteenth Beach until 2018. Thirteenth Beach Golf Links began back in the early 1920s, when the Australian Jam Company purchased 405 acres at Thirteenth Beach and established an asparagus farm. The original diesel pump which provided water for irrigation is still beside the fifth tee of The Beach Course. Asparagus farming ceased in the early 1970s when the property was acquired for beef cattle production. The size of the property was subsequently increased to over 830 acres. In 1999, a joint venture was established to create a premium golf and residential precinct on 520 acres. The master plan allowed for 36 holes of golf, clubhouse facility 150 residential allotments and 150 condominiums. The Beach Course (designed by Tony Cashmore), the first 18 hole course, is set along the property's two kilometres of surf beach frontage. The course was opened for play on the first December 2001. The course has already been ranked among Australia's Best 20 Golf Courses by two national golf magazines. The Creek Course (designed by Sir Nick Faldo and Tony Cashmore), spanning 6,401 metres has 18 holes and was opened for play on 1 January 2004 to wide acclaim, steadily increasing its national ranking each year.

Its magnificent par three 13th hole has been inducted into Australian Golf Digest's 'Iconic Holes' hall of fame. The magnificent clubhouse, listed by Heritage Victoria and the National Trust, is famed for its ambience and old world charm. House guests can enjoy the open balconies in summer or the luxurious open fires during the cooler months. Other facilities include tennis courts, billiards, a driving range, a short-game practice facility, a par-3 course, an undercover coaching area and a professional shop. Also there is the ever present resident population of Eastern Grey Kangaroos which number approximately 300. Anglesea Golf Club welcomes social golfers and social groups every day of the week, don't have golf equipment? The Pro Shop carries hire clubs, pull buggies and motorised carts. There are green fees with cheaper rates for group bookings, juniors and nine holes. The Bistro is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week from 9.00am till 9.00pm. The kangaroos generally come down towards the Clubhouse of an evening so visitors having a drink on the balcony or dining in our bistro have the unique experience of seeing Australian Wildlife in a natural setting. Roo Tours are conducted Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm with volunteer Roo Ambassadors to take you out on course, get up close to the Eastern Grey Kangaroos in their five seater Roo Buggy.
