Winter's the time for sitting around a cosy log fire accompanied
by jazz and shiraz.
And that's just what patrons at Thirteenth Beach Golf Links will
be doing under a new program of relaxing musical afternoons
introduced by Food & Beverage Manager, Adam Jones.
"We're starting the season on Sunday, May 13, 2-4 pm, with
further shows on May 27 and June 10," Adam said.
The shows will feature Melbourne born vocalist
Belinda Griffiths, a soulful and sensitive jazz singer with a voice
full of honesty, delivering a story through her tasteful selection
of jazz tunes. With her training and background in a variety
of styles, and her love of jazz ballads, her voice is warm and
welcoming.
While Belinda has her own band, she will be joined
at Thirteenth Beach by jazz guitarist John Theodoulou, to create a
mellow and intimate sound as a perfect backing to a lazy afternoon
with a good red.
The duo has a broad repertoire of jazz and contemporary
standards with numbers by masters such as Duke Ellington, Cole
Porter and Herbie Hancock to the Beatles, KD Lang and Sting.
"Of course May 13 is also Mother's Day so I'd encourage families
to book for lunch and then stay on for some terrific entertainment
from Belinda and John," Adam said. "We'll have specially designed
Mother's Day lunch menu, from our Head Chef Mark Furborough, who
sources the freshest ingredients from local producers on the
Bellarine. It's always a very popular day at Thirteenth
Beach so I'd encourage early bookings or you may be
disappointed.
"Our recent St. Hallett's winemaker's dinner was booked out very
early but there will be other events coming up throughout winter
designed for club members, their guests and local residents.
Remember, these functions are open to all, not just members.
Visitors are most welcome, but bookings are highly desirable
because numbers will be limited to ensure a wonderful dining
experience."
