The
Davis Cup Official Dinner was held in the Lillias Room
overlooking CorioBay and the Geelong CBD. The official dinner
was attended by over 150 guests made up of players, officials,
sponsors, managers and VIPs. Guests were given a spectacular
welcome to Geelong
to kick off the start to the Davis
Cup tie.
"We
are very proud to host the Official Dinner of the Davis Cup for the
players and officials. Geelong is really a great place, and we're
honoured to have these prestigious players and an event as huge as
this in our town", said Cunningham Pier co-owner Cameron
Ling.
The
Davis Cup Official Dinner leads into a great weekend of festivities
planned by the EMC Group, owners of Cunningham Pier, City Quarter,
Baveras Brasserie, Edge Geelong, Diggers, Black Sheep Cafe &
Restaurant & Lambys. Embracing the Davis Cup and the Geelong
Multi Sport Festival, Geelong's waterfront will be the place to be
from Friday 10th February to Sunday 12th.
"We'd
love for everyone, at some stage, to come down to the waterfront
and be part of the weekend that is all about enjoying these great
sporting events which are in our City this weekend", said
Cameron.
City
Quarter Bar, on level one of Cunningham Pier, will be celebrating
the Davis Cup all weekend. Live music and tennis inspired cocktails
theme a fantastic few days of excitement. Festivities include DJ
Vinnie Friday with $10 gourmet pizzas which is sure to provide the
perfect after-works drinks setting, then the weekend will fully
come alive with Wii Tennis tournaments on Saturday 9th with live music, and 'Cider Sundays' are
back with Aussie inspired gourmet pizzas, cider tastings and Craig
Sayer on Sunday 12th
February.
Cunningham Pier will be celebrating
this community weekend by encouraging visitors, spectators &
participants to keep fit and are incorporating a six- person bike
into the mix, providing passengers with a 'free-ride' up and down
Cunningham Pier. Cameron will be on board as one of the Cunningham
Pier staff riding the six-person bike to City Quarter and back over
the sporting weekend.
