What's new for 2012?
Building on last year's Gran Fondo success, the Amy Gillett Foundation has introduced additional event components for more people to enjoy a challenging or recreational ride along the Great Ocean Road, with the same benefits as those who are choosing the longer ride.
In 2012 we will introduce the "Medio Fondo" - a 40km ride from Lorne to Apollo Bay. This event will also be fully timed, so if your average speed is lower than 18km p/h then this would be a great way to still challenge yourself while experiencing the beauty of the Great Ocean Road as you build towards potentially riding the longer distance inthe future.
The Community Ride has been renamed.... the "Piccolo Fondo". A great opportunity for friends, families and indeed local residents to also take part before returning to the Gran Fondo Village sponsored by African Wildlife Safaris and enjoying the festival atmosphere.
For this year's ride we also ask you to make each kilometre count! Amy's Gran Fondo has introduced a new Fundraising function as part of the registration process to make it easy for you and your networks to get involved with supporting the work of the Foundation in achieving our vision of zero bike-related fatalities on our roads. There are also some great fundraising prizes such as the recently released 2013 Trek Domane 6.2 (RRP $5400). So when you register start fundraising to be in line to win.
