Benjamin Franklin once said that beer is proof that God loves us and want us to be happy, and Vue Grand Food and Beverage manager Caleb Fleet agrees.
There has been a major resurgence in microbrewing and craft beers in many parts of the world over the last few years, and Australia has certainly seen its share. The Vue Grand wants to pay homage to the dedicated men and women of the region that have contributed to this and are brewing our beers.
The Australian alcoholic beverage market is worth some $16.3 billion, beer comprises an amazing 48 per cent of that market. It is estimated that in 2004 Australian beer consumption was around 110 liters per year and it has continued to grow. 85 per cent of the beer produced in Australia is produced by national brewers, the remaining fifteen per cent, by regional microbreweries.
Coinciding with the exciting launch of the Vue Grand’s Regional Victorian Craft Beer List, extending over 35 regionally produced beers, the Vue Grand is happy to announce that ‘Beer and Bits’ is back!
Following the success of the original Melbourne Food and Wine Festival event in March, ‘Beer and Bits 2 – the Winter Edition’ promises to be one event not to be missed.
Featuring ales, stouts and other tasty brews, expertly matched to quirky dishes that will leave you wanting more.
“It’s important to showcase these regional beers,” says Caleb. “We are seeing a growing trend that people want to try something a little more with their beers. Different styles and different flavours, people are wanting a unique beer experience and we are hoping that this event and our Regional Victorian Craft Beer List will provide that.”
The afternoon will provide the opportunity to sample some of the regional Victorian craft beers that will feature on the list, as well as the opportunity to spend the afternoon lounging on the chesterfields in the stunning Vue Grand conservatory, tasting some delicious ‘bits’ highlighting some of Victoria’s best and freshest produce.
