Australian Golf Digest magazine releases its Top 100 golf course
list every March, and this year one Surf Coast and three Bellarine
courses got the tick of approval. The magazine is the best-read
golfing magazine in the country.
Barwon Heads Golf Course was ranked at No. 22, while Thirteenth
Beach Golf Links's Beach course was placed at No. 24. Two other
courses, The Sands Torquay (No. 87) and Thirteenth Beach's Creek
course (No. 95), made the closely watched list for the first
time.
Anthony Masters, General Manager at Thirteenth Beach, said new
waterways and more than 15,000 new tree plantings over the past
three years had greatly improved the look and feel of the Creek
course.
"This new listing is great as it shows we have been on the right
track with our improvement works," he said.
"These rankings are extremely important because they provide the
public golfer with a bucket list of golf courses to play."
The Australian Golf Digest honours come just a few months after
five local public access courses made the Top 50 in the Ausgolf
Golf Course Guide, reinforcing wealth of world-class golfing
opportunities in the region.
