FUN THINGS TO DO ON A RAINY DAY ON THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD

by GREAT OCEAN ROAD

Don’t let a rainy day spoil your fun. The possibilities are endless in this region when the clouds come rolling in.

Make a beeline for the Australian National Surfing Museum at Torquay. Explore a century of surfing culture and get hands-on with exhibitions and displays. Including the new “Fossil Beach exhibition” based around a prehistoric whale skull found in Jan Juc.

Find a café with a great view, order up some local fare, sit back and relax. You’ll find dozens of view-laden eateries on our website. Try these for starters:

  • Forage on the Foreshore, Port Campbell
  • Chris’s Beacon Point, Apollo Bay
  • Swing Bridge Café, Lorne
  • Pavilion Bar and Café, Warrnambool
  • The Wharf, Port Fairy
  • Time and Tide, Port Fairy

Follow your art to the Warrnambool Art Gallery. The Paul Jennings – UNREAL exhibition runs all summer long and is a showstopper for the kids.

Jump in the car and drive to Forrest for the day. Do lunch at the Forrest Brewing Company, then stock up on sweet treats at Platypi Chocolates.

Remember: the great thing about the rain is that the region’s waterfalls will be even more spectacular tomorrow!
