BREWS & BEACHESby GREAT OCEAN ROAD
There’s no better way to work up a thirst than in the surf! In this episode, we travel along the Great Ocean Road to visit some of the best beaches, craft breweries and restaurants in the region. Our first stop is at Aireys Inlet, where we sit down with Tim Wood from Salt Brewing Co. He talks about the birth of a local craft brewing industry, which was inspired by his favourite memories growing up in the area.
Then, we travel to Bellbrae Estate, which is one of Australia’s oldest wine regions and home to some of the most fertile soil in the country. Warm sunny days and cool breezes at night provide optimum conditions for growing the fruit that goes into their world-class wines.
Torquay is one of the most popular destinations for day-trippers looking for a drink or a feed after a few hours at the beach. We stop by Blackman’s Brewery, where they draw inspiration from the region and water from the ocean for their brewing process.
Melbournians and interstate visitors have high expectations when it comes to eating out and they certainly won’t be disappointed by Movida Lorne. Head Chef, Frank Camorra, talks us through his authentic Spanish menu, created from all the best produce the region has to offer.
You might not know about all the hidden gems sitting inland along the Great Ocean Road. So, we take you away from the coast, to Pennyroyal Raspberry and Cidery, for a perfect day out for the family. Jam lovers will love this experience, where you can head out to the fields and pick your own fruit for your home-made spreads.
There’s so much to do down here and that’s why you might need to stay a night or two to fit it all in! We give you a tour of the very comfortable, RACV Torquay Resort, which uses local produce from the surrounding farms, breweries and wineries. There’s so much to see and do down here and it’s only a short drive from Melbourne!
