Which towns have great playgrounds? (Well, most actually - but here's a selection of some of the best)
LAKE PERTOBE - WARRNAMBOOL
The park and lake provide one of the best places to play for all ages - water activities are available in season
LORNE FORESHORE PLAYGROUND
With a large Pirate ship for the younger kids, plenty of swings & a nearby skate bowl this one is fit for all ages! Mini golf and outdoor trampolines (charges apply) are right by the playground.
HEYWOOD
Heywood is a popular rest-stop with major highways intersecting in the township. The playground provides a great stop with kids
PORTLAND
The foreshore playground in Portland features a skate park for the older kids and great views of the harbour and ships coming in for parents!
COLAC BOTANIC GARDENS
Great place for a picnic and an awesome meandering playground - there is also a wheelchair swing
CASTERTON
Whether your in town for a long stay, for the annual Kelpie Muster or just stopping by, Casterton hosts a great playground and skate-park
TIMBOON
While you delight in local produce the kids can have a delightful time at the playground and skate park!
WINCHELSEA
The first town for a rest stop after taking the ring road from Melbourne, Winchelsea's playground by the river is near amenities, the public swimming pool and a great cafe!
GELLIBRAND
Gellibrand has a beautiful playground and park area right in the centre of town. You can learn a little about local history while you're there
PORT CAMPBELL
With a grassed area and large BBQ shelter, the playground and skate park are in the centre of the Port Campbell township
ANGLESEA
Your spoilt for choice in Anglesea - the place to start your first adventure... Kids are catered with great facilities in both caravan/holiday parks, a trampoline centre and 2 excellent public playgrounds
APOLLO BAY
At the foreshore in Apollo Bay you will find a playground (with flying fox) and a skate park to keep all ages entertained (Playground is opposite Brewhouse - however we do not recommend watching kids from beer garden)
Lincoln's Must Do's
In Apollo Bay there is plenty to do for an 11 year old, here's some suggestions from Lincoln the local:
* Surf the Harbour Wall
* Skate or scoot at the Foreshore Skate Park
* Chips and Gravy on the foreshore
* Bike ride to Paradise on the Barham River Road
* Jump off the pier at the Harbour
* Watch the local footy or cricket (depending on the season)
