Drive along the Great Ocean Road to Torquay

Enjoy a morning coffee as you check out the waves at the world famous Bells beach home to the annual Rip Curl Pro held each Easter.

Torquay offers an array of boutique and unique shops for you to browse before you take to the car again and continue along the Great Ocean Road toward Lorne. 

Visit - Erskine Falls as part of the 10 waterfalls in 10 kilometres

Lunch - Discover the Lorne Village including the Lorne Foreshore.

Following lunch, take the spectacular inland route through the Great Otway National Park and discover places such as Deans Marsh, the Pennyroyal Valley & Forrest.  You'll be overwhelmed by the spectacular rainforest with Mountain Ash, Blackwood, Myrtle & Tree ferns native to this area.  Join the Great Ocean Road again at Skenes Creek for the short drive to Apollo Bay.

This morning we are travelling 45 minutes along the road to Cape Otway Light Station , one of Australia’s most significant lighthouse. The oldest, surviving lighthouse in mainland Australia, learn of the importance of this magnificent Light Station.

Spend some time exploring Cape Otway,  there are  numerous trails available, catering for varied leaves of fitness.

Travel from Cape Otway for one hour to the 12 Apostles Helicopters.  Enjoy a 15 minute flight offering a unique opportunity to see the 12 Apostles, Shipwreck Coast and Port Campbell National Park from the air. It is truly a breathtaking experience.

Light lunch at  Port Campbell National Park Centre.  Then take the walk out to just stand and admire the 12 Apostles, listen to the waves crashing against the rocks and Apostles.

There is so much to explore and marvel at in this part of the Great Ocean Road, consider Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge, The Grotto.

Travel  one hour from Port Campbell to Warrnambool to your overnight accommodation.

Spend your morning discovering Warrnambool, a dramatic location on a plateau behind a steep bluff, defined by rivers to the east and west, overlooking sheltered Lady Bay.

Head to Port Fairy for the afternoon . With more than 50 buildings classified by the National Trust and many fine examples of 1800s architecture Port Fairy is the perfect spot for history buffs.

Today we are heading inland.

Take the Princes Highway to Camperdown, its only an hour away.   There are many small towns and villages for you to explore on the way.. many of the towns are rich in natural and colonial history.  

Enjoy Brunch at Camperdown, then head east along the Princes Highway to Colac. built aside the huge Lake Colac and on the doorstep of the Great Otway National Park.

Browse the town, you will find a range from quaint country gift shops, antique dealers and specialty shops.

Are you ready for a walk?  We are heading to the Great Otway National Park…hike through the cool undergrowth as the fresh forest air fills your lungs. Explore ancient rainforest brimming with lush ferns and towering trees, feel the mist from the powerful waterfalls.

Colac to Birregurra

It’s only a 2 hour drive to Melbourne along the Princes Highway, so spend your drive home  exploring the quaint towns and villages that will lead you there. 

Ensure that you stop at Birregurra.  Birregurra is delightful and absolutely oozes country charm.   Food produced in these hills has a freshness and honesty rarely found in modern products. The town itself is charming, with wonderfully restored facades on buildings giving it a historic and reminiscent feel. 

Be sure to spend some time exploring the amazing farm gates, growers and producers, breweries and winemakers of the Otway Harvest Trail.
