Let me help you plan your Great Ocean Road trip
I am here to help you explore the Great Ocean Road region, but I’m still learning and can make mistakes. For the best local advice, visit a visitor information centre. This is a large region, so plan for travel distances and your length of stay.
Hello
Point Roadknight, near Anglesea along the Great Ocean Road, is a well-loved spot for both beginner and intermediate surfers. Its natural rock formations create a sheltered bay with consistent, smaller waves, making it ideal for those learning to surf or families seeking a safe beach experience. During summer, it’s patrolled, adding an extra layer of safety for visitors.
Beyond surfing, Point Roadknight offers opportunities to paddleboard or simply enjoy the tranquil waters. With its scenic backdrop and easy access, it’s a favourite among locals and visitors alike for a laid-back beach day.
From the Anglesea Motor Yacht Club, Point Roadknight beach has an accessible connection from the accessible carpark to the boat ramp for people wishing to enjoy the beach or water.
It is important to note the boat ramp at Pt Roadknight is not accessible for all abilities but it is suitable for some users who have higher mobility or who have a support person who can provide assistance. The location is not patrolled by lifesavers outside of the Christmas period and it is recommended that you visit a patrolled location if you wish to swim and no lifesaving flags are displayed.
There are three types of beach wheelchairs available to hire from the YMCA Anglesea Discovery Camp: the Sandcruiser Wheelchair, the Aussie Beach Wheelchair and the Hippocampe Children’s Wheelchair. Please call 03 5263 1512 or email anglesea@ymca.org.au between Monday and Friday to make a booking.
