Kalimna Falls

Discover the stunning Kalimna Falls, a peaceful retreat in the Great Otway National Park, just a 10-minute drive from Lorne. The falls offer cascading water, dense tree ferns, and the sounds of a magnificent forest. The 6.5-kilometre return walk to Lower Kalimna Falls takes around 2.5 hours. As you follow the path through a deep creek valley, you’ll arrive at the falls, where you can climb behind the water and look out through the cascading falls to the large pool below, surrounded by moss-covered rocks.

After visiting Lower Kalimna Falls, continue a kilometre further to Upper Kalimna Falls. These falls feature a series of cascades that tumble into the creek. This section of the trail, from Sheoak Picnic Area, is an 8.5-kilometre return walk, taking around 3.5 hours. The walk follows the historic route of early pioneers who used a timber tramway to transport timber into Lorne from the 1890s to the 1920s. The trail offers scenic views of the lush forest and historic markers along the way.

The falls are located 160 km southwest of Melbourne and are accessible via Allenvale Road from Lorne, with the trail beginning at Sheoak Picnic Area.
