FORREST

FORREST

About half an hour from Apollo Bay lies the eccentric rural town of Forrest. It's the home of the Forrest Brewery, quirky cafes & restaurants featuring local produce, and the gateway to Lake Elizabeth and the hub of mountain bike activity in the region. Just one visit to Forrest will make you fall in love.

The Forrest MTB trail network is renowned and has something for everyone - find out more at www.rideforrest.com.au

Lake Elizabeth, which was only formed in 1951 after a landslip dammed the river, is a mecca of nature. All that is visible of the sunken forest are the towering, tattered trunks of a dozen manna gums, their smooth moonlight-white bark long since weathered grey and scaly. It's a place where you can spot the shy and elusive platypus or take a night adventure and see glow worms.

RUN FORREST

The township has a diverse and eclectic calendar of events including the annual Run Forrest, a rewarding trail run and draws thousands of runners each year to the area, and the Forrest Soup Festival.

Forrest has become a hub for mountain bike activity in the region, with purpose built mountain bike trails and a series of associated events throughout the year.

Walks, waterfalls and scenic drives extend in every direction from this wonderfully positioned piece of the Otways.
